The Defensive Arts' origins started on the continent of Africa (Edɛnyigba) shared through oral history as it migrated around the world, and documented in KEMET (Egypt), kana, India into Shaolin China, Okinawa Japan, and beyond into the Americas.
We pride ourselves on providing a comprehensive training program that incorporates physical fitness, mental acuity, and self-defense techniques. Our classes are designed to help students of all ages and abilities achieve their full potential while fostering a supportive and inclusive community.
Ʋahɛla Kẽŋkpɔ̃la Creed
In peace, I come with open hands
no weapons,
but should I be forced to defend
myself, family and friends,
the principle of life
and the dignity of knowing
right from wrong,
then here are my weapons,
my open hands.

What I learned from Sensei stayed with me even to this day. His methods of demonstrating techniques and correct form trained my movements even outside of a martial arts environment. He gives explanations that are easy to understand but also teaches through iteration and training muscle memory so you can react in combat faster than the speed of thought... What I learned seemed like it could protect my life...
